2003 Site Upgrades: |
|
Well
folks it took some time but several of my planned upgrades are in place
and I hope you are enjoying the system . Here are a few of the changes
that have occurred since January 1.
- New VWS version
12.05 Beta4 Weather Software Installed on January 1st. This
was a big upgrade as I was a little behind in software updates and
the new version required lots of template modifications to the site.
You should also notice much more comprehensive data reports on our daily
page. Several folks request more historical data, Now you
have it! Enjoy.
- New Server Hardware
and Software updates. We have now completed our Linux server
upgrades and as of 01-17-2003 they are now fully operating. The web server
has been updated to a PIII at 800Mhz. with 1.5 gigs of pc133 memory
and ATA100 hard drives. The operating system software has been
upgraded to Mitel-SME
Server Version 5.6 running under a Linux 2.4 kernel. The 2.4
kernel is much more robust that the older kernel, so you should see
faster page loads and script processing. Sorry we can't do anything
about some of the wx images, they are just plain large and the
faster your connection the faster you will see those.
- I have abandoned
the old slide down menu system. It was cute, but hard to update
site-wide when I wanted to add a link to it. The overhead scrolling
menu can be changed site-wide by editing one file. Let me know if
you have any problems with it.
